13 September 2009 - Lothian Phoenix 59 - 55 Nottingham Jaguars
Lothian Phoenix open their first Division 1 campaign with a win over Nottingham Jaguars.
After a high scoring first quarter the home team stormed into a 17 point half time lead.
The Jaguars responded with an equally dominant third quarter and the home team had to dig deep to take the win.
Robert O'Rorke top scored with 24 points.

12 September 2009 - Association of Wheelchair Children Events
Lothian Phoenix is proud to support the Association of Wheelchair Children in their work teaching young children wheelchair skills.
Phoenix players and coaches will provide wheelchair basketball coaching at their upcoming events in Scotland. The dates are:

10 September 2009 - Referees Conversion Course
Lothian Phoenix will host a referees conversion course at Blackburn Sports Centre in East Lothian.
The course will be run from 10am - 2pm on Sunday 4th October and is open to qualified running basketball referees and experienced wheelchair basketball players.

04 September 2009 - Matches against West of Scotland
West of Scotland returned to competitive wheelchair basketball with a two game friendly series against Lothian Phoenix.
The games featured a mixture of first and second team match ups and honours were even with both teams winning at home.
Alex Gray, Jonny Brown, and Fiona Fairley made their debuts for the Phoenix. (Gallery)

14 August 2009 - Phoenix introduce youth session
Lothian Phoenix have introduced a weekly youth basketball session on Thursdays before first team training.
The session is from 19:00 to 19:45 at Bathgate Academy
and it is open to children of all ages.

10 August 2009 - Phoenix to run second team
Lothian Phoenix have announced plans to enter a second team into the GBWBA League for the first time.
The team will consist of Phoenix development players, juniors, and players from the Grampian area as the club continues to support efforts to develop the game up north.
The team will play in GBWBA Division 4 in season 2009/10 and fixtures will be published when they are confirmed.

26 May 2009 - Steven Ross called up for GB U22s
Steven Ross has been called up to the Great Britain U22 team for the upcoming Astra Tech Junior Challenge at Stoke Mandeville.
Great Britain will face young teams Germany, Italy, Sweden, Belgium and the Netherlands.
Steven is the first Phoenix player to be call up to international duty.

Lothian Phoenix are GBWBA Second Division Champions after victory over old rivals Oldham Owls II
Oldham, who were undefeated in the regular season lead by 8 points at half time.

Lothian Phoenix defeated Raiders II by 33 points to set up a final with old rivals Oldham Owls II.
Oldham were similarly comfortable defeating West Coast Tornadoes.

The Phoenix moved to one win away from promotion with a comfortable win over Vikings II at Linlithgow Academy.
Robert O'Rorke broke his own club record scoring 32 points, taking his average to 20.6 per game this season.

08 March 2009 - Lothian Phoenix 51 - 28 Manchester Mavericks
Lothian Phoenix cosolidated 2nd position with a battling victory over Manchester Mavericks.
Playing without top scorer Robert O'Rorke the Phoenix upped their defence allowing 23 fewer points than were conceded in Manchester.
Youngster Steven Ross highlighted his potential with a career high 17 points.

18 February 2009 - Fixture changes
The upcoming home game against Manchester Mavericks has been moved to Linlithgow Academy, tip off 11:30am.
The long awaited Vikings II match, postponed from December, will be played on Saturday 22nd March also at Linlithgow.
Finally the away game to Celtic Warriors has been moved to Saturday 28th March.

15 February 2009 - Stoke Spitfires 30 - 68 Lothian Phoenix
Lothian Phoenix continued their winning run with a comfortable victory in Stoke.
The Bathgate side stormed out of the traps with 23 - 6 first quarter and steadily built on that advantage.
Player/Coach Stevie Duff top scored with 21 point and point guard Davie Gilmour hit a career high 13 points.

basketballscotland will host three days of competition and player development in 2009.
The first session will be held at Bathgate Academy on Saturday 10th of January and will incorporate a referee conversion course.
Other sessions will be held in Aberdeen and Glasgow and will incorporate wheelchair basketball coaching courses.

26 October 2008 - Phoenix players at RLT Tournament
For the first time Lothian Phoenix sent players to the RLT Junior championships.
The combined South West, Northern Ireland, and Scotland team nicknamed SWINIS finished a creditable 7th in the tournament.
Robert O'Rorke and Martin Dougan coached the team which was lead on the court by Phoenix young gun Steven Ross.

28 April 2008 - Grampian Basketball Sumerslam 3v3
Lothian Phoenix players will enter the Basketball Grampian Summer Slam 3v3 tournament on Saturday 28th June.
The event will be held at Woodhillhouse Aberdeen and will feature male and female players at all ages aand for the first time a wheelchair tournament.
The competition will give the players the opportunity to develop their skills in the close season.

20 April 2008 - Lothian Phoenix 43 - 49 Liverpool Vikings II
The Phoenix suffered a dissapointing loss to Vikings II at Bathgate Academy but will still advance to the GBWBA playoffs.
After a cagey start to the game Liverpool took control and built a lead of 15 points at halftime.
The home team fought back in the second half cutting the deficit to six points gives the Bathgate side will have the edge in the head to head records.

13 April 2008 - Bolton Bulls 21 - 60 Lothian Phoenix
Lothian Phoenix moved closer to a first appearance in the GBWBA playoffs with a comfortable win in Bolton.
To qualify Bathgate side must avoid defeat by 15 points or more by Liverpool Vikings II in the final match of the regular season.
Robert O'Rorke top scored with 16 points and rookie Steven Ross underlined his potential hitting 10 points for the second successive game.

The Phoenix played both games against bottom side Lancaster on the same day.

Simon Ramsay top scored in the second game with a career high 18 points, Mark Stevenson chipped in with 12 points of the bench also a career best.

09 March 2008 - Grampian Grizzlies 12 - 42 Lothian Phoenix II
Lothian Phoenix Reserves completed a comfortable over the newly formed Grampian Grizzlies.
Youngsters Jordan Stewart and Paul Sloan made there debuts in a Phoenix shirt, Jordan was particularly impressive scoring 10 points.
Jose Alexander-Hamed top scored with 16 points and Arthur Lawson scored his first baskets for the club.
A return fixture will be played at Broxburn on Saturday 3rd of May.

Lothian Phoenix are proud to support the Wheels-4-Africa Appeal.
Wheels-4-Africa brings mobility to hundreds of disabled people in Africa by recycling unwanted wheelchairs from Britain.
Phoenix players raided cupboards, sheds, and garages finding five unused wheelchairs for the appeal.

The Phoenix bounced back on Sunday with a vital win over the West Yorkshire Cardinals.
Victory was essential to keep promotion hopes alive and a strong third quarter secured the match for the Bathgate side.
Stevie Duff, Rab O'Rorke and Gary Smith shared the scoring burden with 12 points each.

02 March 2008 - Oldham Owls II 42 - 49 Lothian Phoenix
Hopes of winning the league look to be over after the Phoenix were defeated in Oldham.
It was a very tense match where the lead changed hands 8 times and it was the away team that lead going into the final quarter.
However, the superior experience of the Owls told as they closed out the game.
The Phoenix must now win their remaining games to a secure a place at the playoffs in Stoke Mandeville.

The Phoenix got the weekend of to a good start with a hard fought win in Bury.
The Blue Devils have improved significantly since they lost by 29 points on the first day of last season and the Phoenix had to keep a consistently high level to secure the win.
A piece of unwanted history was made when Niall Ritchie became the first Lothian Phoenix player to be sent off with five fouls.

Two friendly matches have been arranged between Lothian Phoenix and the newly formed Aberdeen WBC.
The first game will be played on Saturday 22nd March at Robert Gordon University Sports Centre, tip off 12:00.
Lothian Phoenix are committed to develop the game in Scotland and it is hoped that these matches will help get the ball rolling for wheelchair basketball in the Granite City.

The battle of the only unbeaten teams in the 3rd Division (North) went the way of the English side.
The Owls lead by as much as 20 points in the 2nd quarter, the Phoenix fought back in the second half but ran out off time just 4 points behind.
Lothian will need to win the reverse fixture in Oldham by a greater margin to maintain hopes of winning the league.

This will be a great place to chat about games, the club's community work, or to ask questions about the team.

Changes are going to be made to the Phoenix coaching setup for the new season.
Experienced coach Fraser Govan will take over from Stevie Duff who will concentrate on playing duties.
Fraser has previously guided Edinburgh Thistle and the Scottish Wizards to success on a national level. |

Lothian Phoenix have continued to strengthen for next season with the acquisition of German power forward Felix Vos.
Felix is the club's first international signing and he has 14 years experience playing for Duisberg in the German Leagues.
He has also represented his country at under 22 level and he will add another big threat in the paint. |

24 June 2007 - Andy signs for the Phoenix
Lothian Phoenix have strengthened the squad with the signing of veteran point guard Andy Lynch.
Andy played for Edinburgh Thistle for 20 years playing in the first division, the big eight tournament and in Japan, Canada, and the USA.
Andy has also represented Scotland and he will add pace and scoring to the Phoenix backcourt.

15 June 2007 - Phoenix are the LDS team of the year
Lothian Phoenix are named Lothian Disability Sport team of the year. The award recognises the success of the team
in the GBWBA British League and in attracting new players to the sport.
It was a double celebration for the club as Lothian Phoenix youth player Stuart Gurney took the Young Player of the Year Award.
